Geometry

All of our students will need to take a Geometry class. Whether online or in a classroom, Geometry is very visual and very interactive. This may be difficult for some students who are more comfortable with concrete math subjects such as Algebra. We can use the tools that are available online to help our students work through some of the difficulties they may face in Geometry. These interactives and lessons also allow us to teach concepts online that may be difficult to do without manipulatives. For example, constructions still need to be taught online and without interactives it would be hard to do.

The following is a list of online sources that can help you with Geometry. Please continue to add to this list. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.

Geometry Lesson Plans:
There are a lot of great lesson plans available online. The Cut-The-Knot website had great lesson plans, interactives and articles about Geometry.
The Math Forum website had great lesson plans.
The Teach-Nology website also has a great list of Geometry lesson plans.

Geometry Interactives:
The Matsnet website had interactives on points, lines and planes.
The NLVMU website had online manipulatives of all kinds.
The Shodor Interactive website has interactives based on Geometry. You just need to scroll down to see the Geometry list.

Applications of Geometry:
Hippocampus.org has a list of all the ways that Geometry is used in other subjects.

Please continue to add your ideas with the rest of us.
